Looking for attention

It is an interesting theory of Richard Lavoie's where he points out that a great way of dealing with kids that are "looking for attention" is to give them attention

This actually makes some sense but the real question is how should one go about giving kids this attention.

My idea of this is to try to get them involved in either a classroom task or perhaps a recreational/sports group.

for example...

if a student has trouble staying in their desk and working and is always out of their desk, try having them hand out worksheets or tasks like that.

on another topic... another different way of dealing with a kid who tends to want to move around that is unique is to give them two different spots that they are permitted to sit.

This way the student can move back and forth as they please, as long as they are being reasonable.
