My Working Definition of Disability

Disability -  A lack of ability in a certain specific area. It can be fixed in a person or it can be possible to overcome, but it is dependant to a high degree on the nature and severity of the ability that is lacking. An issue such as hearing difficulty may be simple to overcome through the use of technology, whereas the effects of autism may not be easily dealt with. The responsibility to work toward a person's highest potential lies in both the individual and those around them.
